    Passage

Music

Caca-
phonies
collide between
the floors of the
slave quarters,
hidden behind walls
in the Carré
of old New Orleans

Brave,
bad singers
are rewarded each day
with love
for their foolish giving hearts.

Idiotic love
oozes through the dark
nights cool,
or hot,
it matters not
for giving
this da'ling
his due:
"May small dogs abound
and bound for you."

Ache
into the night oblivious —
would-be artists all,
we love you.
Tolerance of all
foolishness is our adherence,
through inheritance,
thus,
our religion
under all.

It's only
Love,
after all.
Music now for our
pained hearts.
Nothing to worry over:
Silence will have its
day.
